Unscheduled Outage – Tuesday 3rd of September 2013 – 4PM AEST
On 03/09/2013 at approximately 4pm, a major national fault within Optus’ Fiber network occurred, which fed some critical points of our own network.
This link usually provides multi-path redundancy, however all available paths were affected by this outage.
We were able to restore services to 95% capacity via a different provider around 7:15pm.
We migrated back to our primary path with 100% capacity at approx. 2:30am.
We had previously ordered over a month ago, an alternate provider path for these network points and were due to be installed later this week. This plan is continuing and will make for an easier and more graceful fail-over should such a major network issue occur again in future.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
